Die Ausbildung im Anwendungsfach zielt auf die praktische Anwendung statistischer und informatischer Methoden im Berufsfeld Medizin. Das Studium im Anwendungsfach Medizin ist ganz bewusst nicht als kleines Medizinstudium konzipiert. Es soll kein medizinisches Fachwissen vermittelt, sondern prinzipielle Einblicke in Terminologie, Methodik und Problemstellungen der Medizin geben, um so die Naturwissenschaftler:innen zu kompetenten Gesprächspartner:innen für Mediziner:innen und Gesundheitspersonal auszubilden. Die Naturwissenschaftler:innen sollen in die Lage versetzt werden, medizinische Probleme zu erfassen und mit Hilfe der Informatik und Statistik bearbeiten zu können.

The education in the application subject aims at the practical application of statistical and computational methods in the professional field of medicine. The study of medicine as an applied subject is deliberately not conceived as a minor in medicine. It is not intended to impart specialized medical knowledge, but to provide basic insights into the terminology, methodology and problems of medicine in order to train natural scientists to become competent interlocutors for physicians and health care personnel. The natural scientists are to be enabled to grasp medical problems and to be able to work on them with the help of computer science and statistics.

| GeshSys (Aachen) | Gesundheitssysteme | Health Systems | Die Studierenden kennen den Aufbau von Gesundheitssystemen in Deutschland und Umgebung sowie die rechtlichen und ökonomischen Grundlagen. Ein Vergleich mit anderen Gesundheitssystemen sowie eine Einführung zur Geschichte des deutschen Gesundheitssystems und die wesentlichen Steuerungsmerkmale. Darüber hinaus lernen die Studierenden die Systematik der wesentlichen Organisation und Finanzierung des Systems, indem die beiden Akteure Krankenversicherung (Payer) und Krankenhaus (Player) näher beleuchtet werden. Zudem werden aktuelle gesundheitspolitische Diskussionen aufgezeigt und das Thema Wettbewerb und (digitale) Trends im Megamarkt Gesundheit betrachtet. | The students know the structure of health care systems in Germany and the surrounding area as well as the legal and economic foundations. A comparison with other health care systems as well as an introduction to the history of the German health care system and the essential control features. In addition, students learn the systematics of the essential organization and financing of the system by taking a closer look at the two actors health insurance (payer) and hospital (player). In addition, current health policy discussions are highlighted and the topic of competition and (digital) trends in the health megamarket are considered. | | | | MethMed4MINT (Aachen) | Methodologie der Medizin für Naturwissenschaftler | Methodology of Medicine for Scientists | Die Vorlesung vermittelt Orientierungswissen zum ärztlichen Vorgehen, zum Kontext medizinischen Handelns (zeitliche, organisatorische, juristische und ökonomische Vorgaben bzw. Restriktionen) sowie zu den charakteristischen Besonderheiten klinischer Entscheidungsfindung und medizinischen Wissens. Die Studierenden lernen, medizinspezifische Herausforderungen an typischen Szenarien zu identifizieren und auf eigene (z.B. informationstechnische) Projekte zu beziehen. Spätere Kommunikations- und Orientierungsschwierigkeiten von Naturwissenschaftler*innen in der medizinischen Domäne werden reduziert. | The lecture imparts orientation knowledge about the medical procedure, the context of medical action (temporal, organizational, legal and economic guidelines or restrictions) as well as the characteristic features of clinical decision-making and medical knowledge.
